Waste Disposal & Specialty Removal

Domestic Appliance Removal (WEEE Disposal)

Appliance removal takes away fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers and other electricals and disposes of them under the WEEE rules, so hazardous components are handled correctly and materials are recovered.

Quick answer

Who it is for: Householders, landlords and businesses removing electrical appliances.

What it covers: Collection of large and small appliances, with WEEE-compliant treatment and recycling.

When a survey is needed: No survey needed; a photo and the access route are enough.

Electrical appliances are classed as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and must be treated properly, because fridges and freezers in particular contain gases and components that need controlled handling.

iTrade does not need appliances to be plumbed out for you, but it helps if they are emptied, defrosted and disconnected before collection.

How the work runs

From first enquiry to handover

  1. Enquiry

Send a photo and say how many appliances there are and where they are.

  2. Price confirmed

iTrade confirms a price and any disconnection needed.

  3. Collection

A collection is arranged to suit you.

  4. WEEE treatment

Appliances are treated at an approved facility, with fridges and freezers degassed.

  5. Record on request

The completed area is checked against the agreed scope. Before booking, confirm which waste transfer record applies to the job, who will issue it and who must retain it.

What to have ready for an accurate quote

Reassurance and compliance

Fridges, freezers and other electricals are waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Fridges and freezers are degassed and treated at approved facilities rather than going into general waste.

When you pay someone to remove household waste, you have a household duty of care under section 34(2A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Check that whoever takes the waste is a registered waste carrier.

iTrade Recycling Ltd is registered with the Environment Agency as an Upper Tier carrier, broker and dealer under CBDU521652. The public record was checked on 10 August 2026 and expires on 9 February 2027; customers should follow the official register link and check it again before hiring.
