Waste Disposal & Specialty Removal

Construction & Builder's Waste Clearance

Construction and builder's waste clearance removes rubble, timber, plasterboard, packaging and general site waste from building and renovation projects, priced by weight and material, with the transfer records the job needs.

Quick answer

Who it is for: Homeowners renovating, builders, tradespeople and site managers.

What it covers: Rubble, hardcore, timber, plasterboard and mixed construction waste, sorted and disposed of compliantly.

When a survey is needed: A photo and a rough idea of the quantity are usually enough; larger sites may need a look.

Building and renovation work produces heavy, mixed waste: rubble and hardcore, timber, plasterboard, packaging and offcuts. Because it is heavy, it is priced mainly by weight and material rather than volume alone.

Some materials, such as plasterboard, must be kept separate, and suspected asbestos on an older site needs a separate, competent assessment. Some asbestos work requires an HSE-licensed contractor rather than a general clearance.

Reassurance and compliance

If you are a business or trade, you have a waste duty of care under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and must keep a waste transfer note for each load for at least two years. A householder clearing DIY waste has a household duty of care under section 34(2A). Either way, check that the carrier is registered.

Common questions

Frequently asked

How is builder's waste priced?

Mainly by weight and material, because rubble, hardcore and similar waste is heavy. Volume and access also play a part.

Do you take rubble and soil?

Yes. These are heavy, so it helps to give a rough idea of the quantity for an accurate price.

What about plasterboard?

Plasterboard is kept separate from other waste and sent to the correct disposal route.

Can you take asbestos?

No. Asbestos needs a separate, competent assessment. Some asbestos work requires an HSE-licensed contractor and is not part of a general clearance. iTrade can point you to the right route.

Do I get waste transfer records?

Before booking, confirm which waste transfer record applies to the job, who will issue it and who must retain it. Keep the completed record with the quotation and invoice.
